"We are in full development on the site": the historical heritage of Antibes soon accessible online

What if history were just a click away? The Sophia Antipolis Urban Community's (Casa) digital heritage library is preparing to open for the start of the school year.
A website to reference, in particular, the history of Antibes Juan-les-Pins, by bringing together more than 500 digitized documents on a single platform.
" These are collections that are relatively unknown outside the school; they can be consulted on site, and we present them to schoolchildren, " explains Alexandre Moreigne, director of the Albert-Camus intercommunal media library. Newspapers, postcards, books, and old documents... All will soon be available to everyone on Ancrages, which took two years of work.
"Protecting heritage funds"Objectives: to ensure better visibility of the collections, but also to " enhance the heritage funds present and protect them ," underlines Audrey Caillot, head of the collections division of the Casa media library network.
In addition to the consultation tabs for the various documents, the platform will offer virtual exhibitions, the first of which will focus on Edmond Lahaye and life in Juan-les-Pins, and this, on different media: articles or audio and video extracts, some of which will also come from Gallica, the digital library of the National Library of France.
"We are in full development on the site. We will be able to capture oral heritage, by going to villages, whether artists or shepherds, so that we can preserve a large part of the intangible heritage of the territory ."
Other thematic selections, such as Juan, the beach, seaplanes, and educational literature, will be available for consultation when the site opens. One of the additional features will be a dynamic map for creating heritage walks, which can also be viewed on mobile phones.
But the project doesn't stop there: new digitizations or new donated funds may be added and other themes will be added to update the site.
We will continue to integrate new content, the idea is that we find our rhythm of exposure; that we have, each time, a document highlighted ", explains Alexandre Moreigne.
We just have to wait a few more months for it to be fully available and for it to be presented in more detail during the Heritage Days.
